#1 Vision & mission
Start with your IoT vision and mission. Define where you want to be as an organisation in 5 to 10 years’ time with IoT. Next, be sure to communicate it to all departments. It’s important to get everybody on the same page as soon as possible.
#2 IoT Roadmap
Now, it’s time to create your IoT maturity map and your IoT roadmap that defines how to get to your ideal situation.
#3 Competence matrix
Create your competence matrix. Do you have people with the right competences within your company to plan, develop and maintain your IoT solutions? Or do you need to reach out to external parties?
#4 Build and centralise your IoT competences
If you buy a car, it’s best you know how to drive it. Same goes for your IoT solutions. You need to expand people’s knowledge and make clear who is accountable in case of problems or questions.
#5 Create a solid screening process
When you’re done implementing the previous steps, it’s time to set up the right screening processes. Make sure it takes everything into account, from what the basic requirements are to who needs to approve it.
